Barcelona best airport in southern Europe

Barcelona's El Prat airport has been classified as the best airport in southern Europe for the third year running according the Skytrax survey of 13 million passengers in 120 countries. The survey takes into account check-in facilities, arrivals, immigration procedures, flight connections, security and shopping.

Second to El Prat in southern Europe was Istanbul Ataturk airport and Madrid's Barajas. The world's best airport is Changi in Singapore, followed by Incheon airport in Seoul and third is Munich airport in Germany. El Prat, which registered 35 million passengers in 2013, comes 38th out of the 410 airports in the worldwide rating.

Skytrax is a UK-based consultancy firm which also conducts a number of surveys for airlines on lounges, cabin staff, inflight entertainment and catering.
